A closeup of one of the super-modern skyscrapers of the Pudong area, the 'Bank of China' building. At 846 feet it is only the 7th highest building here at this time. A couple of the taller buildings actually had their peaks covered in clouds on this day, something I don't expect is too unusual for such tall buildings in such dense air. I happened to like this design better than the tallest building, the Jin Mao Tower at 1,380 feet high. A higher tower will be built right next to this one with construction expected to complete in 2007.
While we were visiting, there was little to no automobile or pedestrian traffic in this area. This is not where the Chinese tourists come to visit. They would much rather be at the Bund, which has so much more historical significance to them. It is more interesting historically, but as to architecture, the Bund is older, but it's all just a matter of personal taste.
