Nanjing - Confucius Temple Bazaar
This is the square in front of the Confucius Temple Market, which is a huge open-air market with thousands of stalls selling everything one can imagine. Located in this square is, as you can see, a McDonalds, also a Kentucky Colonel and a Burger King.
Items of note for sale included vast arrays of pets, notably dogs, cats, turtles, frogs and fish. Though it may not be as clean and organized as a PetCo, it wasn't much worse. The one type of product, however, that was notable and less acceptable was exotic animal parts. These were usually parts of rare and endangered species that were considered supportive of increased sexuality or potency. We saw Tiger's Penis, Gorilla's Hands, Rhinoceros Horn, etc. This, though patently illegal, was all carried out into he open in an extremely public place. It probably represents eventual trouble for the government.
