A large stone Tiki on the grounds of the Paul Gauguin museum. There were three Tikis on the grounds of the museum, brought from Raivavae in the Astrals Islands. Evidently, tiki do not like being moved, and much bad karma is stored in these three.
This museum is not the place to view Gaugin's art, but rather to learn about his life. It is well worth the trip. Gaugin's art is best seen in Amsterdam or Paris.
Another worthwhile venture is the Museum of Tahiti & its Islands. This museum, which is modern in nature has one of the finest displays of stone and bone tools from the island chains. A delightful display of the history of French Polynesia.
