To keep a low profile, we decided to take a day off of serious touristing by visiting Peniche for a lazy day seeing the local sites.  This is the fort and city wall.  Portugal, in the 16th century, erected a string of coastal forts to protect it from sea attack.  They were active until sea-warfare modernized in the late 19th century.
