Yangtze - Three Gorges Old River City
This is Wushan which is the town where one transfers from the main Yangtze river cruise to a smaller boat to visit the 'Lesser Three Gorges' up the Daning river. This was a town scheduled for replacement by a new one which was planned to accommodate 47,000 people. I would estimate that the town was at least 150,000 people, certainly there was the businesses to support that many or more. I think in this situation, the government estimates how many exist by how many housing units they are building for the relocation process.
The reason for this picture, however, is to show the electrical infrastructure in the more rural areas of China. This one is scheduled for replacement, but the same scene exists throughout China as far as we could tell. Think there may be a few power outages here on occasion?
