Shanghai - Jade Buddha Temple 1

This is the first of three shots of the 'Jade Buddha Temple' (Yufo Si), showing the doors to part of the temple. One thing this shows clearly is that this is still a functioning, real, Buddhist Temple that serves the people. The stories of how religion is practiced, and to what lengths the monks, priests or preachers need go to keep their doors open is astounding. It does my non-formal religious heart good to see what little is open to the public thriving here. This temple was built in the very early 20th century, so it is not particularly old, but it is very beautiful and shows some typical Chinese architecture.

Unfortunately, there is no photography allowed of the main temple and the actual Jade Buddha, but there was still quite interesting shots to take showing the daily activity and sights.
