Left is a picture from the 'resort' as we knew it then, across their swimming pool and down that same beach. Notice the beautiful landscaping and many buildings. There were two or three cinder-block buildings, one a bar/restaurant/grocery, the others 'cabins' and nothing else for miles around.

We often went down to 'Coral Bay' beach resort. Here we are camped on the beach just a few yards from the 'resort'. We would often catch our dinner and cook it over the 'Coleman' stove. This was perhaps 100 miles south of Exmouth. That's my bike.

Right, believe it or not, is that same swimming pool and the 'resort' now come to fruition. I contacted the owners who forwarded me a couple of new photographs of the old place just for my memory's sake.

Here are two lovely views of the overall Coral Bay area now. A regular town, and a paved access road. This was three cinder-block buildings, two of which were 'cabins' in the worst sense. The nearest pavement was in Exmouth, about 100 miles away. Things can change even in the outback after nearly 40 years. In the left picture you see the swimming pool low-center.

Right is a picture of one of us fishing in the cove. We would often, those of us with motorcycles, try to ride up these sand dunes for sport. Once over behind this little ridge I chased a big red roo around until he was exhausted and I drove right up to him. Then of course drove right away from a 400Lb animal that was by now thoroughly pissed.
