Here are Kath and Bron, with our guide Som, climbing the steep stairs to the upper level of Angkor Wat. I’m already up and inside the door.
This was an “all-fours” climb up, and a “back-down” descent like on a ladder, but the view was well worth the effort for those without climbing issues.
We saw much-younger tourists having great troubles making this climb with its uneven and crumbling stairs. Som was very careful that we followed the safety procedures for this ascent. Thankfully, there was a crude hand-rail for the “down” stairs to assist and keep from falling.
