The covered perimeter walkway has 800m of bas relief carvings depicting 8 historical and mythological events in the history of Kampuchea or the Hindu religion.  On the columns, steps and between these epic story-pictures are other carvings, many of greater depth than the main ones.  Here is one of the smaller ones showing Cham warriors and their fighting elephants.
