Hue - Museum of Trading Ceramics - 2006

Here we are crowded onto the balcony of the museum.

Hoi An is a small town, once the trading center of Vietnam.  It is very old, having been continuously inhabited for over 2,200 years.

Some of the buildings are quite old for wooden structures, such as this museum, and some private houses that are open to tours (of sorts).

We visited one of the older houses across from the museum but when we didn’t want to buy anything, the owner abandoned us to wander.  This felt uncomfortable as the family was at home doing the daily “stuff”, so we just left.  The main rooms that we did visit, however, were full of paneled carving and ceramics that were several hundred years old and in beautiful condition.

The center of town has banned automobiles so is quite pedestrian friendly…oops….other than the ever-present motor scooters.
