Hanoi - Ha Long Bay - 2006

This is the beginning of a cavern being formed within the walls of the lagoon.  These limestone islands, or Karst formations, are usually riddled with such caverns from the very small, to the massive cavern filled with phantasmagorical shapes made from the dripping water over centuries.

We visited one such cavern, a large one with a path, lights, and special-effects lighting making the natural shapes appear sculpture-like by suggesting the eyes of a dragon, or the grin of a snake.
I have no pictures taken in the cavern, because every time I try to take “cavern” pictures they come out undecipherable and I’ve stopped trying.
