A view of one of the Wat Phra Kaew, also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Notice the incredible attention to detail with the gilding mother-of-pearl inlay and basic sculpture expertise. The grounds were consecrated in 1782, the first year of Bangkok being the capital of Siam, ruled by Rama I. The Thai name for Bangkok is Krung Thep, or "City of Angels", which is a shortened version of a 16-word descriptive name I'll not repeat.
