Xian - City Walls
This shot along the long axis of the city wall shows the ramparts allowing archers to fire up and down the entire length of the wall, the crenellations to protect the archers while firing, the ports for drainage, and the baked brick outer facing.
It is obvious that the city is also in the process of improving the outside of the wall as well as maintaining the inside of the old city. Xian, with the discovery of the Terracotta Warrior Army nearby has become a major tourist draw and the city plans on taking advantage. Looking at how they have done on the inside, and at the archaeological sites, I think they will do a great job and the results will only make the experience more worthwhile.
